Research

Artwork automation research based on real production workflows.

Measured on live orders, not lab tests.

FastEditor publishes the numbers behind artwork automation from real production data: uploads processed, files generated and orders routed across connected resellers and suppliers. Every figure on this page carries a claim ID and links to the methodology that defines how it was measured.

Current benchmark
52secondsC10

Median time from upload to a production-ready file. Measured over 32,435 real customer uploads, the strongest measured asset in the registry and the anchor of FastEditor's artwork automation benchmark.

Platform outcomes

What artwork automation changes across a platform.

Two platform-level results recur across FastEditor deployments: more of the orders customers start get finished, and each finished order costs far less to produce. Both figures are logged against a defined cohort and classified by how they were derived.

+20%C01

Conversion uplift on personalised orders.

When customers see their artwork rendered on the real product before they buy, more of them complete the order. Measured across 48 webshops running the FastEditor logo editor.

MeasuredCohort: 48 webshops
~80%C02

Lower cost per order.

Automating artwork prep removes the manual step between order and production. Modeled from measured processing time and labour inputs across 72 connected partners.

ModeledCohort: 72 partners

Class labels follow the registry: measured figures come directly from production and event data, modeled figures apply documented assumptions to measured inputs. Full definitions and cohort dates sit in the methodology.

Customer evidence

What automating artwork changed for real teams.

These figures are reported by the customers themselves, not independently measured by FastEditor. They are held in the registry as customer-reported and are confirmed with each customer before citation.

250%C17

Growth in promo and merch, Helloprint.

Alongside a 35% conversion lift, 2x gross profit and 65% fewer complaints after automating artwork across their catalogue.

Customer-reported
650+C18

Products live in 3.5 weeks, XD Connects.

Automated artwork visualization rolled across the full promotional catalogue, with 28% of resellers using it in the first week.

Customer-reported
4 hrsC19

To integrate, no developers, Woodcarve.

A working artwork automation flow stood up in an afternoon, without a development team.

Of orders fully automated, MerchMaker.

A scalable merch platform built on the FastEditor API, generating print-ready artwork in real time.

Definitions

The terms behind the numbers.

A short version of the definitions used across this page. The methodology holds the full set, including the exact formula for each metric.

Production-ready file
An output file that meets a supplier's decoration spec (format, colour space, dimensions and resolution) and can be routed to production with no further prepress step. See production-ready file generation.
File accuracy
The share of generated files that pass validation against the target spec without a manual correction. Underpinned by automated vectorization and preflight checks.
Correction
Any manual intervention on a file after generation and before it reaches production. A lower correction rate means more orders run untouched.
Conversion uplift
The relative change in the share of started personalised orders that are completed, comparing shops with the live preview and editor to the baseline.
Cost per order
The artwork-handling cost attributed to a single order, combining processing time and labour inputs. Reductions here are reported as modeled.
Turnaround
The elapsed time from a customer upload to a routed production-ready file. Reported as a median, not an average, so a few slow outliers do not distort it.
Measured, modeled, customer-reported
Measured comes from production and event data. Modeled applies documented assumptions to measured inputs. Customer-reported is stated by the customer, not independently verified by FastEditor.
Methodology

Every number here is defined, dated and classified.

The methodology page holds the full definitions, the datasets each figure is drawn from, the exact formula behind each metric, and the public claim registry that ties every published number to a claim ID.

Citation

How to cite this research.

When you reference a figure, cite its claim ID so readers can trace it to the definition and cohort. A citation looks like this:

Update schedule

When these numbers change.

Figures are reviewed on a rolling schedule and re-dated in the registry when they change:

  • Live counts, such as connected suppliers and active resellers, are refreshed as they move.
  • Measured benchmarks, such as the upload-to-file median, are re-run periodically and re-dated.
  • Every claim carries a review date in the methodology, and figures past their review date are refreshed or retired.
