Mixam is an online printing marketplace producing printed products such as brochures, flyers, business cards, booklets and stationery for businesses across the UK, Europe and the US. Printed products live or die on the artwork: the right size, the right bleed, the right resolution, prepared correctly before the job goes to press. For a reseller, that preparation on every order is exactly the work FastEditor removes.

Mixam products are live in FastEditor's Product Hub, with print specifications attached to each product. A customer uploads their artwork on your product page, the editor places and checks it against the requirements for that product, and the file that reaches production is validated and ready to print.

How the integration works

The Mixam connection keeps product data and print specifications in sync, so each product carries the size, bleed and format rules the editor needs to check a customer's artwork.

Three things travel with every product:

  • Print specifications. Size, bleed and safe area for each product, so the editor holds the artwork to what the product requires.
  • Print methods. Digital or offset printing per product, each with its own resolution and colour requirements.
  • Product options. Stock, format and finishing options, so the preview matches the product the customer is ordering.

Artwork requirements

Printed products are unforgiving of bad artwork, and FastEditor validates a file against the requirements for the chosen product before it goes to production. The checks that run on each upload:

  • Resolution and DPI. Artwork is measured against the actual print size, so low-resolution files are caught before they reach press.
  • Bleed and safe area. The artwork is held to the product's bleed and margins, so nothing important is trimmed off.
  • Colour schema. Uploads convert to the colour space the press requires.
  • File formats. Customers upload JPG, PNG, PDF, AI or EPS, prepared into a production-ready file.
  • Fit to product. The design is matched to the product's size and format before approval.
