Doming Design Software with Layer-Separated Output

Doming seals a printed label under a clear resin dome for a raised, glossy, hard-wearing finish. FastEditor prepares the printed base and the dome outline together, so the label prints correctly and the resin sits exactly where it should.

What this technique demands of the artwork

Doming is a two-part decoration: a printed label and a clear resin dome over it. Both parts have to line up.

The dome follows the label shape. The resin is poured to the outline of the label, so the cut outline and the artwork have to match. FastEditor prepares the printed base and generates the dome outline from the same shape.

Full colour, printed base. The label itself is printed in full colour, so photographic and gradient artwork is fine. Resolution is validated at the label size.

Edges and bleed. Artwork needs bleed to the dome edge so no substrate shows at the rim, and bleed is applied automatically.

  • Printed base and dome outline generated from the same shape
  • Resolution validated at true label size
  • Bleed applied to the dome edge automatically
  • Full colour, no colour limit on the printed base

What FastEditor outputs for production

The producer receives the full-colour printed base and the matching dome outline, both scaled to the product label area.

  • File type: calibrated raster base plus a vector dome outline
  • Colour: full-colour profile for the printed base
  • Sizing: scaled to the label area from the Product Hub specification
  • Validation: resolution at label size, bleed to the dome edge
  • Turnaround: generated on proof approval

The production-ready file goes straight to production.

Products decorated this way

Doming suits small branded items that benefit from a premium, raised finish:

  • Keyrings, badges and pin-style gifts
  • Tech accessories and USB housings
  • Branded labels applied to promotional hard goods

Products are pre-configured in the Product Hub. See the full supplier ecosystem.

Frequently asked questions

What is doming?

A decoration where a printed label is sealed under a clear resin dome, giving a raised, glossy, hard-wearing finish. It is common on keyrings, badges and small branded items.

How does the dome line up with the label?

FastEditor generates the dome outline from the same shape as the printed label, so the resin is poured exactly to the label edge with no misalignment.

Is there a colour limit?

No. The printed base is full colour, so photographic and gradient artwork is fine. Resolution is validated at the label size instead.

Why does the artwork need bleed?

So no substrate shows at the rim of the dome. FastEditor applies bleed to the dome edge automatically.

What file does production receive?

A full-colour printed base plus a matching vector dome outline, both scaled to the label area, generated on proof approval.

What upload formats are accepted?

PNG, JPG, SVG, AI, EPS, PDF and TIFF. Raster files are resolution-checked and enhanced at the label size.
